About Stan

 Stan’s first responsibility has always been to protect the residents he serves here in York County. He can be counted on to put us first because this is his home and this is where his family lives.

A conservative Republican, Stan Saylor is committed to smaller, smarter, more transparent government that protects taxpayers and the values we share.  He works hard to provide a strong voice for our priorities as a Representative from Pennsylvania’s 94th Legislative District in York County and as the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee in the State House.

Prior to his election to the State House, Stan worked in the private sector as a foreman for Paul Smith Builders and later as a production manager for American Chain and Cable Company. He also worked with his father to start the Jesse Saylor Plastering Company, which served families and businesses across York County. It was here he developed his belief in the principles of smaller government and lower taxes. That’s why he works hard every day to ensure state spending is focused on our priorities to force state government to live within its means, just like our families do. This is the philosophy that guides him as a member of the Republican Leadership team in the General Assembly.

As State Representative, Stan has stood strong for taxpayers.  He provided the leadership that stopped large income tax increases under Governor Rendell and Governor Wolf, and he has led the fight to control state spending while protecting vital services.  Stan has never voted to increase income taxes and helped pass important legislation that cut the state debt our children would otherwise be forced to pay.

Although more needs to be done, Stan is proud of the efforts taken by the majority in the House to put taxpayers first and to help improve the economic environment here at home and across Pennsylvania.  He has worked hard to enable our state to become more business and jobs-friendly by passing tough legal reforms and pro-jobs legislation like the Angel Investor Tax Credit.  He led the effort to enacted prevailing wage reform and strong tax reforms to ensure our job-providers are competitive with other states and countries.

A leader on reform, Stan voted against the infamous midnight pay raise and was successful in his fight to overturn it.  He pays a portion of his healthcare insurance premiums like is done in the private sector, and he helped pass the first comprehensive pension reform in decades. Stan worked with like-minded colleagues to create a comprehensive and easily searchable online database of state spending to make the budget process more transparent to better protect taxpayers.

Although proud of these accomplishments, his first responsibility will always be to the residents he serves in York County.  Born and raised right here, Stan can be counted on to always represent our views because this is his home, and this is where his family lives including his mother, sister and brother.

Stan strongly supports our Pro-Life and Pro-Second Amendment values and is proud to have earned the endorsed of the NRA and PA Pro-Life Federation in previous elections. He will actively seek their support this year.
